Free tree giveaway aims to help restore tree canopy in North Little Rock

Arkansas ReLeaf will host a free tree giveaway on Friday, March 15 at the Burns Park Hospitality House at 402 W. Military Drive in North Little Rock.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It's almost been officially one year since an EF-3 tornado devastated parts of central Arkansas on March 31, 2023.

While statewide recovery efforts have helped many Arkansans restore homes, businesses, and clean up their properties, the Natural State is still feeling the effects of the tornado.

Arkansas ReLeaf will host a free tree giveaway on Friday, March 15 at the Burns Park Hospitality House at 402 W. Military Drive in North Little Rock.

Crews will be giving out up to five bare-root seedling trees and one potted tree per person while supplies last from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The tree giveaway aims to help restore some of Arkansas's greenery and local tree canopy that sustained significant losses during March's tornado.

Arkansas ReLeaf is a project funded and supported by the Arkansas Urban Forestry Council and the Urban & Community Forestry program for the Arkansas Department of Agriculture's Forestry Division.

Funding from the USDA Forest Service is utilized by this project to provide trees to residents in communities that have suffered tree canopy loss from storms or other natural disasters.
