Freeze watches, warnings issued for parts of Arkansas

Cold Weather

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Forecasters have issued freeze watches and warnings for a large swath of northwestern Arkansas for part of the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Little Rock says Saturday that a significant part of the state will experience near-freezing temperatures Sunday and Monday morning. The freeze warning goes into effect Sunday morning.

Forecasters expect temperatures to fall before freezing just before sunrise and warn that subfreezing temperatures could kill sensitive plants and other vegetation.

The weather service says a freeze warning means the temperatures have the capability of killing crops.
