North Little Rock family shares frustrations about living conditions at apartment complex

One family is sharing their frustrations and speaking out about the ongoing issues they've experienced while living at an apartment complex in North Little Rock.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — For Stephanie Sissom and her family, it's been a year and a half full of chaos while living at the Overbrook Apartments in North Little Rock.

The Sissom family shared how they have dealt with one issue after another— from having black mold and problems with the air conditioning to even having holes in the floors.

"We've been dealing with the flooring issue, where anywhere that there's water, it seems like the flooring is caving in, we've dealt with black mold," Stephanie described.

She also said that since they moved in, they've filed over 33 maintenance requests.

However, none of them have been fully addressed.

"My husband, his foot fell through the kitchen floor, and now all they put down was plywood and a little piece of what looks to me, looks like white poster board," she added.

When we reached out to RR Living, the owners of the Overbrook Apartments, they sent us the following statement in response:

"RR Living's number one priority is always the safety and comfort of our residents. While any private home or apartment community deals with normal maintenance needs, we take that extraordinarily seriously.

In this case, we have offered the residents of this apartment home to transfer to another apartment or even to another community at our expense.

Transferring will allow us to properly resolve the source of the issue without disturbing them. We are proud to note that all service requests are addressed within 72 hours, as resident comfort is paramount at RR Living.

To date, these residents have toured another North Little Rock community of ours but did not yet decide about moving. We are committed to making sure they are satisfied and comfortable."

In response, Sissom explained how those offers have gone nowhere, and how it has been a challenge to endure her living conditions.

"I get told, okay, we're going to go do that, but nothing ever happens. I just don't know what to do anymore. I don't know how much like, what all do I have to say before somebody actually does something," she said.
