GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has declared Garland County a disaster area after severe storms and an EF-2 tornado struck the area on May 8.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Garland and Hot Spring counties around 12:30 a.m. Central. At the time, the Hot Springs Fire Department described roads as "mostly impassable," and noted heavy damage.
The severe weather caused power outages, injuries, and damage to homes and businesses. Due to this, Gov. Sanders has authorized Public Assistance disaster relief for Garland County.
