LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Little Rock restaurant known for its delicious food and rich history is set to reopen after temporarily shutting its doors for the past year.
Lassis Inn, founded in the early 1900s, will reopen on Aug. 13 under new management.
One of the restaurant's new co-owners is Christopher Jones, who said the team is excited to bring back the staple while adding their own culinary twist to the "historical and traditional" menu.
"We are keeping the historical and traditional fresh fish menu, but adding some new smoked items including smoked brisket, baby back ribs, steak burgers, beef hot dogs, loaded spuds and even a smokey Sunday brunch menu with bottomless mimosas," Jones said. "We can't wait to feed the city."
For years, the restaurant was known for far more than its delicious catfish and buffalo ribs. Daisy Gatson Bates and other civil rights leaders frequented it and often held meetings inside.
While Elihue Washington Jr. sold the restaurant to Jones and Kristian Nelson, he confirmed that he'll still be a part of the Lassis Inn team, greeting customers and working in the background.
The restaurant is located on East 27th Street in Litle Rock.
