HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas — Our Promise House will be a temporary home in Hot Springs for cancer patients who are in need of treatment.
It has been under construction for a year now, but some unfortunate circumstances have set them back.
"To see a room finally put together and see all the pieces put together, it's exciting," said Stacey Pierce, the Executive Director of Our Promise House.
Last year, the site had copper wire stolen not once, but seven times. It cost the non-profit thousands of dollars and months of construction.
The Hot Springs Police Department identified the man who stole the wires as 46-year-old Gary Short. However, they have not said if Short was involved in all seven thefts.
All around Our Promise House, there are small details to help make the patient feel at home.
There will be a trail where patients can walk outside and a memorial garden for daily meditation.
There are ten suites in the building, and each room will have a unique style based on the person or family who sponsors the room. They will decorate the room in honor of a loved one who has fought cancer.
The rooms will also come with a fridge, microwave, and a private bathroom.
"We'll have welcome baskets for the patients as soon as they get here with coffee and amenities and all the options that you would want," said Pierce.
Our Promise House is set to open at the beginning of April.
