LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Every household in the U.S. is eligible to order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests through the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response this month.

Test kits are rapid antigen at-home tests, not PCR, and will begin shipping out the week of September 30. You'll have the option to sign up for email alerts to keep track of your order.

These can be used for testing whether you are up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines or not and even if you don't have any symptoms.

You can take these tests at home or other locations and get results within 15-30 minutes with no lab drop-off required.

A positive at-home test result means the virus was detected, and you likely have COVID-19. To prevent the spread of the virus, you can seek treatments and follow the latest CDC guidance.

If you test negative, the FDA recommends taking a second or third test to confirm its accuracy since antigen tests are less likely to detect the virus than PCR tests.

The completely free tests can be ordered online or by phone at 1-800-232-0233.
