BRYANT, Arkansas — On Tuesday afternoon, officers from the Bryant Police Department spoke to dozens of kids about how to be safe for Halloween.
"There's a lot of safety issues that we want to cover with them and hopefully they will listen [and] at least take some of it in," said Sergeant Todd Crowson.
One of the biggest pieces of advice they gave is to make sure kids can be seen in the dark.
Crowson recommends using glowsticks, glow tape, or a flashlight when walking from house to house. It is also a good idea to check your children's candy when they make it back home.
"If there's wrappers that have been tampered with or been opened just throw them away," Crowson explained.
Some other Halloween safety tips are:
- Make sure you have a parent with you or go in a group
- Don't ever go into a stranger's house
- Wear face paint or wear a mask that you can see clearly out of
- Use flame-resistant costumes
- Only visit homes that have a porch light on
