Arkansas State Police investigating after 1-year-old passes away during house fire

Arkansas State Police is currently assisting with an investigation into a house fire that tragically left a baby deceased on Thursday morning.

EUDORA, Ark. — At the request of the Chicot County Sheriff's office, the Criminal Investigation Division of Arkansas State Police is currently assisting with an investigation into a house fire that tragically left a baby deceased on Thursday morning.

According to reports, at about 7:30 a.m. on October 24, a fire happened at a home in the 900 block of North Pine Street in Eudora. 

A neighbor was able to rescue a 6-year-old child by removing him from the home. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters found a 1-year-old boy deceased. 

No information has been released regarding whether or not anyone else was injured during the incident.

The body of the victim has been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. The Fire and Explosive section of ASP has also begun an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire.

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing and we will update with more information as soon as it becomes available.
