Arkansas State Police investigate after Conway officer fatally shoots victim

Arkansas State Police are investigating an incident where one person died after a Conway officer fired shots near Highway 64 West.

CONWAY, Ark. — Conway police are investigating an incident where one person died after an officer fired shots near Highway 64 West.

According to authorities, Conway police are working with Arkansas State Police to investigate the incident. 

Reports state that Conway PD and the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office were attempting to 'execute a search warrant' at a home on Highway 64 West. During the execution of the search warrant, a homeowner allegedly opened the door 'holding a firearm' which then led a Conway officer to shoot their firearm at the homeowner, 'during the encounter.'

The victim, identified as 78-year-old Allen Seibert, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead shortly after. 

Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation into this incident and the officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave.
