JEFFERSON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) is currently investigating a fatal fire that happened on Friday night.
According to reports, at about 6:40 p.m., deputies with the JCSO were sent to a home on Old Star City Road in Pine Bluff with reports of a fire and a possible person still inside the home.
Once firefighters arrived, they found human remains inside. The Jefferson County Coroner was then notified, and after an initial investigation, the remains are believed to be of James Agee who lived inside the home.
Reports say no foul play is suspected, but the remains have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for a positive identification and to determine the cause of death.
