VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ark. — An investigation is now underway in Van Buren County after a possible plane crash was reported in the area.
According to Van Buren County Judge Dale James, a six-passenger plane, with just a pilot on board, reported engine failure shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the incident, it is believed that the plane may have crashed in North Van Buren County. However, that has not officially been confirmed, and the plane has not been found just yet.
Search crews in the air spotted something that may have been wreckage in a very rural area. Now foot crews are searching in the area near Wrights Lane near the Stone and Van Buren County lines to confirm.
Two Blackhawk helicopters are also assisting in the search.
Information into what exactly happened remains limited at this time but we are working to learn more.
