Second arrest made after woman's body found in tote just off Arkansas highway, deputies say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A second suspect has been charged after a body was found in a tote just off an Arkansas highway in February, the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office said Monday, June 24. 

Corey Jerome Anderson, 40, of Madison, Arkansas, has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse, a Class C felony, according to the sheriff's office. 

Anderson was in St. Francis Circuit Court Monday on an unrelated matter and was taken into custody without incident. Anderson's bond was set at $50,000 dollars, officials said.

On June 20, the St. Francis County Sheriff's Office arrested the first suspect, announcing that Micah Lacy, 45, from Forrest City, was charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse and possession of a firearm by a certain person.

The sheriff's office said Lacy's bond was set at $1,000,000 and that his arraignment was on June 24 with St. Francis County Circuit Court Judge Christopher Morledge.

The sheriff's office said a couple of boys called deputies on Tuesday, Feb. 20, after discovering a woman's body inside a gray plastic tote on County Road 731 just off Highway 334 while they were riding four wheelers in the area. 

The woman was identified as 42-year-old Troy Alexandra Strope from Forrest City, Arkansas.

This is still an ongoing investigation, and other arrests are expected, the sheriff's office said.
