Police in Jacksonville continue search for shooting suspects

After being last seen one week ago, Jacksonville police are searching for two shooting suspects connected to an incident that sent a child to the hospital.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — It has now been one week since a shooting in Jacksonville left a child in the hospital.

Now, the search continues as the Jacksonville Police Department works to locate 28-year-old Terry Rhodes Jr and 22-year-old Kyriel Wiliams for their involvement in that shooting on June 3.

"Officers received calls of shots fired in the 300 block of North Bailey. When they arrived they found a child five years old, injured, with non-life-threatening injuries, and the child was taken to a local area hospital for treatment," said Lt. Cassie Blackerby.

According to reports, the vehicle in question is a newer model red Ford Mustang with paper tags. The car, driven by Rhodes, was involved in a terroristic act and first-degree battery.

"Newer model with paper tags, driven by Mr. Rhodes Jr, and the public is asked to be extremely careful with them because they are considered armed and dangerous at this time," said Lt. Blackerby.

Though it has been a week since anyone saw Rhodes and Williams, police do not believe that they have left the state. They are actively working with other agencies to be on the lookout for them.

"We still believe they're here in Arkansas, we have no reason to believe that they've left the state, but anything is possible. Other agencies have been made aware of the suspect vehicle, and the suspect as well, but at this time, we have not had a solid lead to their location," said Lt. Blackerby.

Now, some are worried that others could get hurt, but Lt. Blackerby explained that is not the case.

"We think it was an isolated incident. We don't believe that they're actually out to harm anybody else at this time. We did not make any arrests again. It is an ongoing investigation, and any type of arrest will be made as the investigation unfolds," said Lt. Blackerby.

If you see the suspects or have any information, you're asked to call the Jacksonville Police Department at (501) 982-3191.
