JONESBORO, Ark. — An officer with the Jonesboro Police Department is being praised by the community after heroically saving a child who fell through the ice on a local pond.
When he reached the pond, Officer Troy Ellison quickly sprung into action. After locating the child he crawled across the ice and pulled them to safety with the help of Lt. Shon Morris and members of the Jonesboro Fire Department
The child was transported to a nearby hospital to be checked for any cold weather injuries.
Officials caution Arkansans that no matter how cold temperatures get this winter, it's never safe to play on the ice.
