LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The City of Little Rock announced on Wednesday that the construction of a 4.9-megawatt solar facility has been approved.
The new solar development project is set to cover 70% of city operations' electricity needs and save taxpayers $27 million dollars over 20 years.
In the 2022 State of the City, Mayor Frank Scott Jr. set a goal for Little Rock to have 100% of city operations powered by clean energy by 2030. That goal is one step closer now that the City Board of Directors approved a contract with a solar company.
