Little Rock fire captain dies after off-duty car accident

The Little Rock Fire Department announced the passing of their fire captain after he was involved in an off-duty car accident on Sunday.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Sunday afternoon, the Little Rock Fire Department announced the overnight passing of Captain Robert Hild after he was involved in an off-duty car accident.

According to reports, just after midnight on July 7, both Captain Hild and his wife Amanda were in their vehicle when they were involved in a single-car accident along Arkansas Highway 365 in Maumelle. 

No information has been released regarding the wife's condition at this time.

The fire department said that Captain Hild had been with the Little Rock Fire Department for more than two decades and was assigned to Fire Station #9. He is survived by his wife and his five children.

Arkansas State Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
