Little Rock Animal Village looking for owner of dog who is 'friendly towards most people'

The Neapolitan Mastiff was brought to the shelter on March 23, and the shelter manager believes the dog has an owner.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Concerns about a dog's well-being have created a lot of conversations online.

The dog, nicknamed "Eleanor," was found in Little Rock nearly two weeks ago.

She's since been at the Little Rock Animal Village, and management believes someone is missing their pet.

Eleanor is a Neapolitan Mastiff. LRAV Manager Tracy Roark believes she belongs to someone and is looking to find her owner.

"She's very friendly towards most people," Roark said. "She does not like the UPS guy."

Whether or not Eleanor's owner comes forward, she will not be adopted.

When the animal shelter assessed her behavior, she had aggressive tendencies towards some people and puppies.

"She's just such a unique dog that it takes a special kind of person who knows about these dogs to have her," Roark said.

Concerns spread across social media that Eleanor would be put down if her owner didn't claim her, but Roark said there was no need to worry. Roark said he has no plans to euthanize her, and he is in contact with some rescues who can help her.

He added that he hopes people will advocate for other dogs at the shelter, just as they have for Eleanor.

"When you see a situation like that, and there are so many people interested in this one dog, I've got a hundred other dogs that I wish got a tenth of the attention that this dog has gotten," Roark said.

If you want to adopt a pet, the Little Rock Animal Village will hold a free adoption weekend on April 5-6.
