LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Little Rock man has now been arrested for causing the death of a school security guard after hitting him with his car in August 2023.
According to reports, Arkansas State Police served 55-year-old Desmond Chukwunwike Nkala a warrant for manslaughter charges and he was arrested without incident.
Reports show that at the time of the incident, 62-year-old Victor Montgomery was directing traffic on the first day of school at Joe T. Robinson Elementary School. He was then hit by a vehicle driven by Nkala and dragged several yards before the vehicle stopped.
Mr. Montgomery was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.
Police say that after the incident happened, Nkala stopped and consented to testing. Nkala was released on bail from the Pulaski County Detention Center after pleading not guilty on Wednesday.
