LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A man from Little Rock is taking legal action against Starbucks after his drink was made with whole milk instead of oat milk, which caused him to have an anaphylactic reaction.
According to reports, Blake Mason went to the Starbucks at 13820 David O’Dodd Road in Little Rock on September 12, 2023, to pick up a mobile order for an Apple Crisp Oat Milk Frappuccino Blended Beverage.
He went home and started experiencing respiratory distress due to something in the drink. Mason was able to use his EpiPen and call an ambulance.
Emergency medical responders reported he was hypotensive, stridorous, and hypoxic. He was diagnosed with anaphylaxis once he arrived at the emergency room.
Mason confirmed that he has a severe milk allergy, and Starbucks' mistake could have been life-threatening. He filed a complaint against the company, which stated that this incident occurred due to failure to properly supervise food and failure to serve the proper ingredients in the drink.
As a result of this incident, Mason was injured, forced to pay necessary medical expenses, lost wages, and still suffers pain.
