LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock Parkview is the king of Class 5A for the second consecutive season.
On Saturday, the top-ranked Patriots dominated Shiloh Christian 55-12 to win the Class 5A state championship at War Memorial Stadium behind quarterback Eric McGhee's 319 total yards and five touchdowns.
The victory completed a perfect 14-0 season for Parkview, who finished the 2023 season averaging 46.71 points per game and winning by an average margin of 36.71.
The Patriots scored six touchdowns in the first half and opened the barrage with a 67-yard touchdown connection from McGhee to wide receiver Elston Monterrio.
Monterrio compiled 142 receiving yards on six catches and scored touchdowns of 67 and 32 yards. Parkview finished with 444 yards of offense and held Shiloh Christian to 217 yards.
Running back Omarion Robinson punched in a 14-yard rushing touchdown to give the Patriots a 28-0 lead with 6:39 to play in the second quarter.
The Saints responded two minutes later when quarterback Cole Creighton found wide receiver Carter Holman for a 37-yard score to cut into Parkview's lead.
But like they did all season long, the Patriots kept finding their way into the endzone.
McGhee, who led Parkview on the ground with 49 yards on six carries, scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown on the following possession as the Patriots led 42-6 at the half.
Parkview scored eight touchdowns on 13 possessions and forced five turnovers in the state title-clinching victory.
