LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — As the school year kicks back off, the Little Rock School District is proud to announce the district's selection as a winner of the 2024 Renew America’s Schools Prize and Grant.
The competition aims to support necessary upgrades in energy efficiency and indoor air quality for K-12 public schools nationwide.
The grant will focus on providing funds for 17 school facilities that meet the eligibility criteria, including: Central, Mabelvale Middle, Bale, Carver, Baseline, Gibbs, Chicot, King, Geyer Springs, Stephens, Washington, Mabelvale EL, Wakefield, Watson, Dunbar, and Romine.
The Little Rock School District stood out among over 350 applications from educational agencies across 42 states.
In addition to being awarded a $300,000 prize, the district was invited to move into a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy, valued at over $11,250,000.
LRSD will work with Energia, a leading K-12 Energy Management Consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive energy assessment, identify potential savings, and prioritize necessary improvements.
