LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A new mural is coming to the intersection of 13th and Main Street in the South Main, or SoMa, neighborhood— and it's up to the community to help select a design!
Three finalists were chosen by members of the DLRP Public Spaces Committee to produce concept ideas for the space, and the city has opened a survey so Arkansans can pick their favorite design.
You'll have until May 5 to submit your vote, and you can also sign up to help install the artwork during a community celebration in June.
“Public art brings new energy to a space, and we’re excited to see this new investment in our thriving neighborhood,” said Arlton Lowry, Chair of the DLRP Public Spaces Committee. “This asphalt mural is one more step, among many, the Downtown Partnership is taking to help make our downtown safer for pedestrians and cyclists alike.”
The project is part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative grant program, which aims to promote community collaboration and engagement and create safety improvements for pedestrians and cyclists.
The City of Little Rock is collaborating with the Downtown Little Rock Partnership and SOMA 501, Inc. for artists to create this ground plane mural for the community.
