LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Hasaan Rasheed, who portrayed one of the king’s guards in the 2018 Oscar-nominated movie, Black Panther, will deliver a motivational speech to children enrolled in West Central Community Center’s 21st Century After-School Program.
Rasheed integrates his own background as an educator and professional athlete to inspire youth to work hard and dream big.
During his 60-minute appearance, he provides students with a peek behind the scenes of Marvel’s Black Panther movie and details the relationship between science, math, and technology as it is brought to life on the big screen. Rasheed appears wearing a remake of his King’s Guard uniform from the movie.
Accompanying Rasheed is the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub’s STEAM Roller, a mobile makerspace on wheels that delivers STEAM education to Arkansas schools and communities. Staff from the Hub will demonstrate digital fabrication and screen printing techniques to students as a means of making cosplay outfits.
The event is Friday, Feb. 8, from 5 - 6 p.m, at the West Central Community Center on 8616 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, Ark.
