You can ride the streetcars in the Little Rock area for free in 2020!

Rock Region METRO has announced their continuation of free streetcar rides into 2020!

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Rock Region METRO has announced its continuation of free streetcar rides into 2020.

Becca Green, the director of public engagement for Rock Region METRO, said that in September 2019, ridership on the downtown streetcar was up 229 percent compared to the previous year.

The reason for the dramatic increase is clear: rides are now free. The fare for streetcar rides was eliminated in December 2018, and ridership spiked immediately.

Friendly reminder: There will be no METRO Streetcar service from Jan... . 6 -10 due to overhead line maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes! Remember to check rrmetro.org for any service alerts before planning your next streetcar trip!

The streetcar spans across 3.4-miles connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock.

Last November was the METRO streetcar's 15th year anniversary.
