NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Thea Foundation) – The seventh installment of The Art Department, a quarterly young professionals series and project of Thea Foundation, will feature the works of painter John Kushmaul in an exhibition titled "River, Buildings, Streets, Bridge" and debut with a reception Friday, May 8, 2015, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at Thea Foundation. The Art Department series, which launched in November 2013, has a mission to engage up-and-coming art patrons and to cultivate a community of arts-focused philanthropic involvement among central Arkansas's young professionals.

May 8, $10 at the door covers heavy hors d'oeuvres by Ben E. Keith, an open beer and wine bar, a live musical performance by Bonnie Montgomery and her band, and the chance to win an original painting by John Kushmaul.

John Kushmaul lives in Little Rock and is well known for his urban landscapes of Arkansas's capital city. "Little Rock serves as a convenient subject because of the variety of architecture covering the history of modern life in Arkansas," Kushmaul says. "The streets, power poles, wires, and satellite dishes show pats of the layer of technology that covers this history. The light of the seasons also is a subject of some of these works."

Bonnie Montgomery's music is well known in her home state of Arkansas and is gaining momentum across the country. Check out her latest self-titled album at bonniemontogomerymusic.com.

"John Kushmaul: River, Buildings, Streets, Bridge" will be on display at Thea Foundation through the month of May. Thea Foundation is located at 401 Main Street in North Little Rock. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 to 5 p.m. For more information, call (501) 379-9512 or email stacey@theafoundation.org.
