LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — This year, the Little Rock Marathon is adding a new program to the Little Rockers Kids Marathon that's inclusive and non-competitive.
The All-Abilities Division is for anyone ages 5-25 with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.
The program will kick off with a special event on Saturday, October 5 with Logan’s Run in Murray Park at 10 a.m. in memory of Logan Bussard, a therapeutic recreation specialist for Little Rock Parks and Recreation who passed away earlier this year.
“Logan was an avid runner and participated in the Little Rock Marathon many times,” said Sherrie Shinn, Therapeutic Recreation Program Coordinator. “His purpose was always to help everyone reach their fullest potential. His work with the Therapeutic Recreation division aimed to make events like marathons accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities.”
Participants who choose to take part can run, walk, or roll at least 25.2 miles before the 2025 Little Rock Marathon Weekend on March 1 – 2, 2025. Then on Race Day, they’ll finish the last mile on the official Little Rock Marathon course.
“With the new All Abilities Division, we can honor his memory,” said Shinn. “We are excited to offer this opportunity to children with disabilities in our community and beyond.”
