CASH, Ark. — Arkansas State Police have arrested a man in connection to a 16-vehicle pileup that killed two and injured six more people in Jackson County on October 3, 2023.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, 55-year-old Charles Benham of Alicia was charged with felony reckless burning.
According to reports, smoke from nearby burning fields caused low visibility on Highway 67-167, resulting in the pileup.
The vehicles involved in the accident were traveling north at the 99-mile marker when smoke covered all four lanes.
68-year-old Thomas Blevins of Logan, Ohio, and 55-year-old Terry Lutz of Somerset, Ohio, died in the crash.
