A man found dead in Jonesboro was wanted for questioning in the murder of two sisters in Indianapolis. Indianapolis police said they are not looking for any other people.
Jonesboro Police Sgt. Cassie Brandon said Sunday that 29-year-old Darrel Jackson, of Jonesboro, was found dead Friday, Nov. 26 inside a car in Jonesboro with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Associated Press.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating a murder-suicide after Jackson's wife and her sister were found dead inside a southeast-side home Friday night.
Officers were called to a home in the 4500 block of Stone Mill Drive around 5:30 p.m., where they found two people suffering from an undisclosed trauma, according to IMPD spokesman Sgt. Christopher Wilburn.
The two women found were Meredith Opel, 20, and Mallory Jackson, 27, according to IMPD. Wilburn declined to provide details on what happened or who contacted police.
A man who was out of state — and is now dead — is connected with the incident, Wilburn said. He declined to release the man's location, the nature of his connection or anything else about him.
"We aren't looking for anybody else. Another jurisdiction has the person that we believe to be involved. And that person is deceased," Wilburn said.
In a neighborhood where multicolored Christmas lights twinkle, neighbors huddled together in their yards Friday night, watching as investigators emerged from vans and began photographing the area outside the home. It's an area Wilburn said doesn't often see calls for police.
