LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A man in Arkansas has now been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute and for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
According to reports, in June 2022, agents conducted an operation to target 37-year-old Gilberto Pedraza Contreras of Michoacan, Mexico for allegedly "intending to distribute 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine to a confidential informant."
When Contreras arrived at the location, the agents blocked in his vehicle so they could try and avoid the chance of a vehicle chase. Contreras then struck an agent's vehicle with his own vehicle and was later taken into custody.

Nearly one month after the operation, Contreras was indicted by a federal jury on one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute as well as one count of distribution and possession of a controlled substance.
On October 30, 2023, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Now, Contreras has been sentenced to 135 months in prison and five years of supervised release after his release from prison.
