NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The North Little Rock Police Department is now bringing a 20-year-old case back into the limelight and in front of the public in hopes of finally being able to solve it.
According to reports from police, on April 16, 2004, NLRPD officers were called to AA Auto sales along Highway 161.
When officers arrived at the business, they found Chester Roberson, Sr. lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound. He died due to his injuries.
Though twenty years have passed since then the Roberson family has still found themselves questioning, who killed Chester Roberson, Sr?
"It was a very hard pill to swallow. We have gone through a lot of grief," described his son, Chester Roberson, Jr.
Roberson Jr. was only 25 years old when he found out what happened to his father, and for the past two decades, he has wondered why someone would want to hurt his dad.
"He was a good husband, a good dad, brother, uncle, and was a retired firefighter. He was very funny and was really good to a lot of different people," Roberson Jr. described.
Charles Peckat, the lead investigator with NLRPD explained how he's hoping that with fresh eyes on the case, it will lead to new discoveries.
"DNA has come into play now, and it's been in for quite a few years now, So I hope that helps," Peckat explained.
However, he's unsure if DNA is involved in this case. Peckat said that currently there are no suspects, but investigators have been looking at several persons of interest.
He also explained that the NLRPD alongside the family, is offering a $9,000 reward for information on the cold case that leads to an arrest.
Anyone who may have information regarding this case is asked to contact police at (501) 680-8439.
