LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Little Rock Police Department are searching for 41-year-old Clyde Holmes, who reportedly hasn't been seen since leaving his Little Rock home on July 10.
Newton County sheriffs said they found an abandoned truck registered to Holmes on July 11 near a county road off Highway 74 East between Jasper and Piercetown. They then learned Little Rock police had been looking for Holmes when they towed the truck and entered it into a nationwide law enforcement computer network.
According to authorities, Holmes has no ties to Newton County.
"I have met with Clyde's family and they are rightfully worried about him," Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said. "Our prayers go out to him and to his family. We don't have a lot of information to go on at this point, but are hopeful that, as the investigation and search continues, we will have more information to work with."
Holmes, who also goes by Clyde Boatwright Jr., is 5 feet 10 inches tall with black dreadlocks. Police said they didn't know what Holmes was wearing when he left his house the day he went missing.
The Little Rock Police Department and Newton County authorities have called in specialized K-9 and trained ground search teams to assist with searching for Holmes. The Newton County Sheriff's Office said those search operations are planned through at least July 22.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Boyd with the Little Rock Police Department at (501) 404-3016 or the Newton County Sheriff's Office at (870) 446-5124.
