MONTICELLO, Ark. (KTHV) - Zack Tucker, the mayor of Monticello, was charged on Friday, September 16 with tampering with public record and abuse of office. Thomas Deen, the prosecuting attorney of the 10th judicial district prosecuting attorney, filed the charges at the Drew County Circuit Court.
Tucker was elected as mayor in 2014 at the age of 25, making him the "second youngest mayor for the city of Monticello". That year he was also chosen for Arkansas Business' 20 in Their 20s.
In court documents, Deen accused Tucker of committing both crimes early in April 2015. Tampering with public record is a Class D felony which comes with a fine of up to $10,000 and jail time of up to six years. Abuse of office is a Class B misdemeanor. Tucker could face up to 90 days and $1,000 fine for the abuse of office charge.
The court documents do not go into detail on how Tucker committed the alleged crimes. A court date has been set for October 17 at the Drew County Circuit Court.
