George Wyrick appointed as new Justice of the Peace for District 12 by Gov. Sanders

Governor Sanders has now appointed George Wyrick to be the new Justice of the Peace for District 12, and he will serve through the end of 2024.

SALINE COUNTY, Ark. — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has now appointed George Wyrick to be the new Justice of the Peace for District 12 in Saline County.

The Justice of the Peace position had been empty since November 2023 when J.R. Walters retired.

The appointment by Gov. Sanders was made on Wednesday and J.P George Wyrick was officially sworn in by Saline County Judge Matt Brumley on Thursday afternoon.

"I am looking forward to serving with J.P Wyrick and welcoming him at our next Quorum Court Meeting," said Saline County Judge Matt Brumley.

J.P Wyrick was born in Little Rock and attended the Pulaski County Special School District.

However, he has lived in the Shannon Hills area for most of his life. He was a scholarship athlete while he attended Henderson State University but left to take on the family business after his father passed away. He worked in the marble business for more than five decades before he retired.

He has been married to his wife for more than 40 years and has two daughters.

"I look forward to serving as Justice of the Peace for District 12. I've always been interested in politics after learning from my dad who served as a Justice of the Peace and as a School Board Member. I want to help the county as best I can, even though I will only be here for a short time," said Justice of the Peace George Wyrick.

He will serve as the District 12 Justice of the Peace through the duration of 2024 when a new J.P will be chosen during the 2024 General Election. The newly elected J.P will then begin serving on January 1, 2025.

J.P Wyrick's first meeting as the Justice of the Peace for Saline County will be on February 20 at 6:00 p.m. for the February Saline County Quorum Court meeting.
