BENTON, Ark. — Life’s too short for bad biscuits! That’s the mantra at Niecy’s restaurant in Benton, a place that’s become known for its big buttermilk biscuits and relaxed country atmosphere.
But there’s more than meets the eye at this up-and-coming restaurant— they've got some of the best homemade biscuits in Saline County!
“My grandmother taught me how to make biscuits from scratch. We’re talking fresh made, buttermilk biscuits,” explained Denise "Niecy" Whitworth, co-owner of the restaurant that bears her nickname.
She talked about her grandmother with such love and affection, and for her, that’s what Niecy's is all about. Using food to love others is the heart behind this restaurant, and that’s something that Denise credits for its quick rise in popularity despite being relatively new to the area.
“The door is open to everyone. I’m just trying to give back some of what this community has given to me. If it weren’t for this community, I wouldn’t have this restaurant,” she said.
While Niecy’s has become known as the go-to destination for mouthwatering buttermilk biscuits, of which the recipe is top-secret, there are some other popular items on the menu too!
The pancakes are HUGE, and they aren’t your average flap-jacks. These are made using sweet cream— and that makes a huge difference in taste and texture. Cinnamon rolls are handmade each morning, long before sunrise, using scratch ingredients for everything from the dough to the frosting.
Niecy’s started as an all-day breakfast eatery, though just recently extended its hours and began serving a dinner menu as well. True to their roots, the new dinner menu offers a wide selection of all-day southern cooking staples you’d find at Grandma’s house.
Niecy’s is open 7 days a week from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. and is located at 1016 W. South Street in Benton.
