NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The North Little Rock Animal Shelter will break ground on the building's new addition and renovation on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m.

The shelter, located at 1 Championship Drive in Burns Park, was built in 1961. The project will add 900 extra square feet to the shelter, new flooring, new paint, and create two separate entrances for animal control/shelter and adoptions.

The animal adoption area will feature a party room that can be rented, along with smaller rooms for prospective adoptees to visit with their potential new owner.

The project will cost an estimated $583,516 and will be funded by the half-cent sales tax passed by North Little Rock voters in 2022. It is anticipated to be completed in November 2024.
