NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — An investigation is underway after a North Little Rock police officer discharged their service weapon during a traffic stop, resulting in the driver fleeing on foot.
According to reports, an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East Washington Avenue and Birch Street. During the stop, for reasons unspecified, the officer fired their service weapon at least one time.
At this time the driver, the vehicle's only occupant fled the scene on foot. Officers searched for the driver, however, they were not located.
Detectives were notified and launched an investigation. No injuries occurred during this incident.
The NLRPD officer involved has been placed on administrative leave per NLRPD policy.
