NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The doors were opened to a newly renovated animal shelter in North Little Rock on Saturday.
The North Little Rock Animal Shelter held an open house on March 19 to show off the changes, and soon all the cats and dogs looking for new homes will have a welcoming short-term home.
It's also a space volunteers hope will put animal lovers who stop by in the adopting spirit.
"We have completely redone the adoption center with new ceilings, new lights, a skylight, new walls, new floors, cages, everything. We redid the cat room the same way, and it just looks like a whole new building," said Marilyn Hall, shelter assistant.
Hall added that the new shelter is a memorial to doctor David Bevans. Money from his memorial fund helped pay for the renovations along with matching funds from the city. Volunteers also pitched in with some support.
