PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Authorities announced that both of the murder suspects who escaped from a Pine Bluff jail on January 20 are now back in custody.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that 23-year-old Jatonia Bryant was found and detained.
According to reports, officers were on the east side of Pine Bluff patrolling when Captain Yohance Brunson spotted a male later identified as Bryant walking near the area of Belair Street and East Harding Ave.
As Bryant continued walking, Captain Brunson called for additional help and took him into custody without incident.
Bryant, along with 22-year-old Noah Roush, escaped from the Dub Brasswell Adult Detention Center in Pine Bluff as they were being held on probable cause for multiple crimes, including murder.
An internal investigation revealed that jail staff did not perform an accurate head count which allowed the two escapees to have a 36-hour head start before they were discovered missing. As the investigation continues, they say each person involved will be "dealt with accordingly."
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Operations Commander Major Bean said Roush and Bryant were able to escape the facility after "creating a hole in the roof" of the shower area.
