LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - For the eleventh straight year, Arkansas Stop the Violence is giving back to the community, partnering with the Black Firefighters Association to donate bikes to kids this Christmas.
Thanks to the effort, hundreds of boys and girls in central Arkansas who cope with financial struggles are being surprised with bikes for the holiday.
Rev. Benny Johnson, founder of Arkansas Stop the Violence said the memories he has of touching so many young lives are part what makes the annual bike drive special.
"Some grown kids have come here and told me, ‘Man I remember you gave me my first bike’ and a lot of times, I don't remember. But just to be a blessing to someone who otherwise wouldn't get anything. Jesus gave, and we should be the same way," Rev. Johnson said.
Rev. Johnson said they are still in need of bicycles to give throughout the holidays. If you’d like to donate or get involved, you can call Rev. Johnson at 501-410-0681.
