PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — The need for a warm meal does not stop on holidays, and organizations are working to make sure no one goes without.
Pulaski County’s COVID-19 meals program has provided thousands of meals to families and organizers are making sure it won’t stop over the 4th of July weekend.
“It’s part of the Pulaski County meals program, providing meals for families, and students, and seniors, during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Clinton Foundation Communications Manager Ben Thielemier said.
All the distribution locations will be closed July 3rd, 4th, and 5th, so multi-day meals will be available for pick-up before then.
“Dee Brown Library, on Thursday, is going to distribute multiple lunches so that there are some additional meals available through the weekend,” Thielemier said.
The City of Little Rock will also distribute produce boxes this week to help fill the void.
“We’ve distributed hundreds of thousands of meals since the pandemic started,” Thielemier said.
Thousands of people need meals and they want to make sure no one goes without.
“It’s really important to ensure that volunteers that are working on the effort and a lot of staff members who’ve been working, we want to make sure that they get a break, but that we also meet the need in the community,” Thielemier said.
Organizations partnering in the effort include Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, Arkansas Foodbank, the Be Mighty campaign, Central Arkansas Library System, City of Little Rock, Clinton Foundation, Club Eco Kids, ECO Kids, EngageAR, Equal Heart, Fab 44, FEED First USA, Go Fresh, Little Rock School District, Pulaski County Special School District, Our House and World Central Kitchen.
