Salvation Army Central Arkansas to start donation drive to help combat extreme heat

Salvation Army Central Arkansas is asking the community to help support those in need as the state continues to experience extreme heat. Here's how to help.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command is launching a donation drive to collect snacks, bottled water and other essential items as the state continues to experience extreme heat.

"As temperatures soar, the need for adequate hydration and nutrition becomes even more critical," The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command said. "We are asking for donations of pre-packaged snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, crackers, and, most importantly, bottled water."

How to help

Donate snacks and water: Community members can drop off pre-packaged snacks and cases of individual bottles of water at our office located at:

  • The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command (1111 West Markham Street Little Rock, AR 72201)

Drop-off times: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Monetary donations: For those who prefer to contribute financially, donations can be made online, or items can be purchased on the Central AR Pantry needs list here. The items purchased will ship directly to the Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command.

According to the organization, every dollar helps them purchase the necessary supplies to support the community.

"We are grateful for the continuous support from our community," said Major Kenny Igleheart, area commander at The Salvation Army Central Arkansas Area Command. "These donations are crucial in helping us provide for those in need, especially during the challenging summer months."
