Parris Towers, a high-rise building in Little Rock, is without air conditioning after the building experienced an internal power outage, according to Metropolitan Housing Alliance.
MHA, the owner and operator of the 250 unit building, said the power outage caused an electrical component to malfunction. That component provided power to the chiller system in the building.
Technicians have begun the repair process and air conditioning is supposed to return to the building within the next two and a half weeks.
"The process will involve a temporary solution to restore power to the 14th floor, where the chiller is located, while the permanent solution is being engineered," MHA said in a statement.
While the problem is being fixed, MHA has provided box fans to units that are occupied as well as installed air conditioners on each floor. A cooling station has also been set up in the common area of the 1st floor and the community room.
Industrial fans have been placed on each floor "to enhance the circulation of air."
Parris Towers was built in 1972 as public senior housing.
