Police investigating homicide on S. Ash Street in Pine Bluff

Pine Bluff police are investigating after one person died in an overnight shooting at 2702 S. Ash on March 21.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — One person is dead after a shooting occurred at 2702 S. Ash St. in Pine Bluff just before 1:00 a.m. on March 21.

According to reports, officers responded to a call regarding gunshots in the area of 27th and Ash St. Shortly afterward, they received another call stating that a person had been shot at 2702 S. Ash St.

Upon arrival, officers located 43-year-old Willy Purifoy inside the residence. He had suffered apparent gunshot wounds and was unresponsive. Purifoy was later pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Coroner.

A homicide investigation is currently underway. There is no suspect information to be released at this time. however, persons of interest in this homicide are being interviewed at this time. No arrests have been made.
