Police investigating after Pine Bluff man allegedly fatally shoots wife at store

The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating after a man allegedly fatally shot his wife in the parking lot of Cherry St. Liquor on June 17.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating after a man allegedly shot his wife in the parking lot of Cherry St. Liquor on June 17.

According to reports, officers responded to the shooting at 2517 S. Cherry St. and located an unresponsive woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in a black passenger car in the parking lot.

The victim was identified as 44-year-old Mary Christopher. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses stated that Mary’s husband, 58-year-old Gregory Christopher Sr., was talking to her from outside of the vehicle when he allegedly shot her before fleeing the scene.

Mary’s 8-year-old son was in the vehicle at the time, but he did not receive any physical injuries. The motive for the homicide is unknown at this time.

Later that morning, an officer spotted Gregory's vehicle on a FLOCK camera entering Regional Park. Officials located him unresponsive in his vehicle with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This investigation is currently underway. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
