PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Pine Bluff officials shared their plans for a new, multi-use park on Tuesday morning.
"The City of Pine Bluff and Ward 3, we need a recreational park," Pine Bluff Ward 3 City Council Member Lanette Frazier said. "We don't have one."
Frazier said she's determined to change that.
On Tuesday, the Ward 3 council member officially demolished the old Bush Field to make way for a new multipurpose park.
"I'm excited about Graphyte Incorporated being the first to donate $25,000," Frazier said. "They're a new company in our city."
Graphyte isn't the only one helping to turn ideas into a reality, Frazier said the community is too.
"I'm out there knocking on doors trying to raise funds within the community," Frazier said. "I'm raising funds that way, and everybody bringing their funds together will help us."
She said having a park like this will improve the area's quality of life for families.
"This is another way that the community can come together and get some healthy exercise and have fun at the same time," Frazier said. "Just bringing back that old school good, clean, fun everybody likes to have."
The park will include a skateboard area, a children's playground, a concession stand and a baseball and football field.
Kids in the community said they're looking forward to playing there, and Frazier hopes to utilize it for all kinds of community events in the future.
"We're looking to do so much more in the park," Frazier said. "It's not just a sports park, but we're looking to do movies and music in the park. Anything that they want. If they want to do church in the park, we want to do that."
During these beginning stages of transforming the park, Frazier is focused on building partnerships and raising money to bring these ideas to life.
