NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On Monday, March 11,  Arkansas State Police (ASP) arrested 51-year-old Robert Daniel Payne Jr. of Sherwood after evading arrest for more than two years.

He was charged with eight counts of distributing, possessing, and/or viewing of materials depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child.

In August 2019, officials executed a search warrant at Payne’s Sherwood residence, seizing electronic devices and additional evidence. Arrest warrants were issued in September of 2021.

Payne was arrested at a restaurant on Warden Road in North Little Rock without incident and transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

“This case shows that persistence pays off,” said ASP Colonel Mike Hagar. “I am so proud of our Criminal Investigations Division for never giving up the search for this suspect.”
