Pine Bluff police make arrest after finding body on E. 26th

The Pine Bluff Police Department has arrested a man for his involvement in an apparent homicide after finding a body on January 25.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — Update: Police have arrested 32-year-old Samuel Mosby for his involvement in the homicide. He is being held on charges of capital murder, possession of a firearm by a certain person, and abuse of a corpse.

After finding a deceased body on January 25, the Pine Bluff Police Department has launched an investigation into an apparent homicide.

According to reports, shortly after 10:00 a.m., officers were called to the area near E. 26th and S. Indiana Street to search for 31-year-old Derrick McAfee who had been reported missing since the night before.

McAfee's family had found his vehicle near that area and called police as they searched the area. His body was then located inside a cart near the 1300 block of E. 26th.

Mr. McAfee was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives have stated that it appears to be a homicide. The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
