Arkansas State Police investigate shooting near capitol in Little Rock

Arkansas State Police says a 26-year-old motorist was driving westbound on Interstate 630 when a suspect in a silver vehicle pulled alongside and started shooting.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas State Police is investigating a shooting that happened on Interstate 630 near the Martin Luther King exit and the Arkansas State Capitol on Tuesday.

Authorities said a 26-year-old motorist was traveling westbound on I-630 around 2:15 p.m. when a "suspect in a silver Honda Civic pulled alongside his vehicle, firing at least two rounds into the driver's side and striking the victim in the hand."

According to ASP, both the victim and suspect took the 3B exit from I-630, and that's when witnesses lost sight of the suspect's vehicle.

ASP said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).

The suspect is still at large.
