Police investigating after man shot during theft in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Police Department is searching for a suspect in an incident where a theft led to a person being shot on Thursday morning.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — The Jacksonville Police Department is searching for the suspect in an incident where a robbery led to a person being shot on Thursday morning.

According to reports, police responded to #1 Paradise Park Road just before 9:00 a.m. with reports of a theft.

Police state that a commercial property owner confronted the suspect who was committing the theft and proceeded to display their weapon.  After a brief struggle between the property owner and the suspect, the owner was left with a non-life-threatening wound. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives are actively looking for the suspect after he ran off into the woods.

He is described as being a tall white male with a slender build, black hair, and no facial hair. They say he is possibly in his mid to late 20s and could be wearing blue coveralls.
